Christoph Strasser celebrates comeback in style at PEAKBREAK

After recovering from an illness Christoph Strasser showed some good form in his comeback race with winning the queen’s stage of PEAK-BREAK and finishing on the podium. Although Christoph had only been resuming training a week ago, he decided to participate in PEAKBREAK. “I really didn’t regard it as a competition. I just wanted to collect some serious training kilometres and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the tour. I soon realized that my legs didn’t feel too bad, so I thought I might have a go at one of the harder stages. Winning the queen’s stage leading over the Grossglockner was an incredible experience and helped me to get rid of the bad memories of my defeat at the Glocknerman Ultra this summer.”

With start and finish in Graz, the tour roughly covered 1.000 kilometres and 18.000 altimeters, a distance Christoph usually covers non-stop. “This race was much more intense than a non-stop race! In an ultra marathon race I can set my own pace and focus on my very own performance. Here you have to watch your opponents and cover nearly every move. It’s attacking all the time and the pace on the climbs was incredibly high!” With the Soboth climb, the ascent up to Nassfeld, the Grossglockner and the Kitzbuehler Horn, the Sölkpass and last but not least the Klippitzthörl this event came as close to the Tour of Austria it can get. Mind that no pros were racing.
